How to Change Your Major in Arts and Sciences at Kstate
The School of Peace and Conflict Studies evolved from the Center for Peaceful Change, which was established in 1971 every bit a "living memorial" to the students killed by the Ohio National Guard during a student protest against the Vietnam War on May 4, 1970.
The Eye was created to be interdisciplinary in nature, and to practice pedagogy, research and public service relative to peaceful change, with a teaching focus on learning from experience. In 1994, the proper name of the Center was inverse to the Middle for Practical Conflict Management, with a continued emphasis on interdisciplinary learning and applied skills. In 2017 the Heart was transformed into the School of Peace and Conflict Studies. Today the School builds upon the legacy of its predecessors, regularly enrolling more than 1,000 students each year in courses that teach practical skills in conflict management and irenic change.

- Empower people with the knowledge, skills, and sensation to prevent, resolve and transform conflict and to build more than but and sustainable peaceful communities and societies at local, national and international levels.
Mission
The mission of the Schoolhouse of Peace and Conflict Studies is to:
- Embody and promote the School'southward function as a "living memorial" to the 4 students killed at Kent Land on May 4, 1970; and to accolade their memory past always working for peaceful modify
- Produce rigorous multidisciplinary research that informs teaching and practise and is capable of shaping wide-based public and policy action for peaceful change
- Develop in our students the disquisitional and applied skills and noesis necessary for them to achieve their full potential and to bring most positive peaceful change in the lives of others at personal, organizational, community, national, and global levels
- Develop and promote innovative practices that produce tangible social touch on
